To minimize new construction it piggybacks on Khurda-Balangir line and  Angul-Sambalpur line. In the process it skips Phulbani and passes through only a small part of Kandhmal district. Ganjam district gets a lot benefit as it connects Asika and Bhanjanagar.

Sambalpur Deer Park's name has been changed to Sambalpur Zoo and Wildlife Rescue Center. See https://www.dailypioneer.com/2023/state-...entre.html for a news item on this. As per that news:
