  1. Baripada (District HQ, popln in 2011 - 116,874, Sitakunda, Balidiha dam, Lulung, 2nd Shrikhetra Jagannath Temple, University, Medical College, etc.)
  2. Rairangpur town Municipality (popln in 2011 - 50,798, has rail station, Suleipat dam - also called Khadakhai dam) 
  3. Karanjia town NAC (popln in 2011 - 22,865, Deo river in the SEast, Sub-div HQ of Panchpidh, Deo/Hatibari dam)
  4. Udala town NAC (popln in 2011 - 13,152, Sub-div HQ of Kaptipada, Devakunda waterfall)
  5. Jashipur town (popln in 2001 - 14,195,  Ramtirth - with crocodile park, Kaliali phatak of Similipal national park)
  6. Betanoti town (has rail station, popln in 2011 - 10000, Badjodi dam) 
  7. Bahalda town (capital of Mayurbhanj in the 14th century, popln - 5425 in 2011, Nesa dam)
